The University of Miami is fully committed to maintaining objectivity in research and upholding the highest scientific and ethical standards in a manner that assures the integrity of the scientific record.
In order to comply with the University of Miami's conflict of interest policy, all investigators (anyone who could be involved in the design, conduct or reporting of sponsored activities) are required to complete the following components:
- Complete online training entitled “Conflict of Interest Course” on the nature of conflicts of interest (COI) and on UM’s specific COI recently updated policy and procedures. To ensure investigators can complete the required training as efficiently and conveniently as possible, UM is employing the CITI program which is accessible online any time. Users should plan to allot about 15 minutes for each training module. Directions on how to update your C number and complete the required COI CITI training are available on the CITI section of the DPS website.
AND
- Disclose their interests to UM. Each Investigator must disclose activities and financial interests related to his/her institutional responsibilities through the Disclosure Profile System (DPS). The DPS is available to accept disclosures. The Office of Research Compliance disclosure system website also contains additional information and FAQs to help users maneuver though the system.

Faculty Disclosure Form Information: Use of the Faculty Disclosure Form will end with the reporting of CY2012 disclosures. The University has adopted an improved disclosure mechanism called the
Disclosure Profile System (DPS). All faculty members, even those who are not involved in research, must use the DPS for their CY2013 disclosures.
If you have not yet made your required disclosures (or your acknowledgement of having nothing to disclose) for CY2012, please use the DPS for your CY2012 disclosures.
The University also offers FDF Completion Workshops. To schedule a workshop for your unit or if you have questions or feedback about the form, contact Jerry Engel, Compliance Specialist, at jengel@med.miami.edu or 305-243-4054.
